Concept Map

Concept Map

A Concept map, sometimes referred to as a Mind Map, is a method that helps students see concepts and content visually. A concept map uses connectors to show the connections between concepts.

  • Concept maps help students to organize information.
  • Helps to assimilate concepts by connecting them to other ideas related to one another.
  • Analyze concepts.
  • Compare and contrast concepts.
  • Instructors can see how students visualize concepts.
  • Have the students visually design the general concept and the details.
  • Ask students to create, organize, and link ideas.
  • Help students group content/information and build meaningful links.
  • Allow students to explain or visually present how they have reached a particular conclusion.
  • Visually show how people or their opinions are linked to each other (literary or scientific text can be used).

This can be done through free platforms such as:

  • Coggle.it – with the free plan – 3 private maps and unlimited public maps.
  • mindmeister – with the free plan –  3 private maps.
  • Miro – with the free plan – 3 maps.
  1. Choose a platform and share with students according to the instructions of the platform.
  2. Integrate the concept map in Moodle either as an external link or embedded within a formatted content page.
